DESIGN QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient with computer aided design using Generic CADD, AutoCAD R12 and Proline 3D Surface software
  • Over twenty years of prototype and scale model building. (boats, bicycles, homes, computer cases, etc.)
  • Comprehensive boat hull designs from 6' to 40' as well as yacht interiors, sail and power
  • Strong abilities in conceptualizing new products with sketches and in drafting from sketches and with rendering with marker, pencil, chalk, gouache and air brush.

  • Additional experience in residential remodeling, cabinet and furniture desig
  • Reputation as a problem solver with the ability to get what I design built.

EXPERIENCE

  • Drafted for commercial cabinet shop, also custom residential stair / temp./ 1997
  • Designed and developed a new method of building light weight carbon-fiber bicycle frame. Built two different, fully rideable carbon-fiber prototypes / freelance /1990 and 97
  • Tested hull design software (Prolines) for Vacanti Yacht Designs/ contract /1985-88
  • Custom boat building, owner-president Woodfeather Boats Co. Built approx. 23 boats utilizing wood and West System epoxy and fiberglass. Supervised six employees /1976-86
  • Designed and built new console for computerized global positioning satellite anchoring system for Nautronics, Inc., San Diego, CA. / contract /1992
  • Boat repair, refinishing, and fiberglass tooling for boats, camper shower stalls, etc. Remodel of many yacht interiors / freelance / contract / employee /1980-98
  • Finish and rough carpentry, tile setting, and cabinets. / employee /1984
  • Designed and mass produced futon frames and sofa beds. / contract / supervised two employees /1983.
  • Taught classes and lectures at the Center for Wooden Boats, Seattle, WA. Cold-molding and wood-epoxy composite construction. 1983-86
  • Designed and built several stage sets. / contract /1991-92
  • Designed and managed two major remodels of single family dwelling and complete building of a two story shop building. / designer / general contractor /1983-93-95
